The past year was truly a remarkable one in our organization's history. In October 2011, we celebrated 25 years in business. We launched a new logo and have spent the past several years continuing to build our brand, which has become tantamount with our dedication to assisting our members achieve success in their professional endeavors. Our organization recently won 3 awards at the PMI Leadership Institute Meeting in Dallas, Texas. We grew to over 3,000 members strong, comprised of over 1,800 PMP's. Truly extraordinary.
At the end of 2011, PMINYC made its first step towards embracing agile, by hosting monthly Agile Workshops. These workshops covered various topics of agile methodology and scrum. We also established our presence on LinkedIn, as PMI NYC Agile Community. The purpose of this initial step was to provide PMINYC members with the ability to collaborate, learn principles of Agile, agile management tools, as well as to gain understanding about how Agile aligns with some core principles of PMBOK. This undertaking turned out to be a successful one as it brought together a number of professionals that wanted to learn more about the subject as well as share some of their own experiences on the same. It also indicated that there is a need for PMINYC Community to evolve its agile initiative to something even bigger.
